Turkey's leading port operator Global Ports Holding has been representing Turkey with a great success for years at the major international event of the cruise sector "Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention" at Miami, USA. This year the Port of Antalya run by Global Ports Holding has received "The Most Improved Terminal Facilities" award, owing to its significant progress in port operations and management within a short period of time.
Again this year, Global Ports Holding has successfully represented Turkey at the "Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention 2011" at Miami, the leading and most important annual meeting of the cruise sector, where several exhibitions and conferences are taking place and where world famous suppliers and decision makers of the sector attend. Global Ports Holding is proud to have returned with a unique award received by Port Akdeniz - The Port of Antalya.
"Dream World Cruise Destinations Magazine", one of the most prestigious and reputable publication of the cruise industry, conducted a survey among top executives of the cruise sector to determine among hundreds of ports and destinations 15 separate categories for 2010. Further to investments and client-oriented services, the success of Port Akdeniz - The Port of Antalya has been recognized by leading and experienced decision makers of the cruise world and received "the Most Improved Terminal Facilities" award.
Ranked as number one, Port Akdeniz - The Port of surpassed world famous ports and cities in the same category including Dubai from United Arab Emirates, Malaga from Spain, Seattle or Port Everglades from the Unites States, Stockholm from Sweden and Tianjin from China. Moreover, Port Akdeniz has distinguished itself as the only Turkish company or Turkish port to have received this award.
Global Ports Holding, Turkey's largest port operator started to operate Port Akdeniz - Antalya in 2006 and took full control of the port on 29 July 2010. Since its takeover, GPH has substantially increased the port's capacity via capital investments it made over a short period of time.
For the "Most Improved Terminal Facilities" awards presented in line with the construction of new facilities, development of new technologies, transportation services, security, communication or developments related to the services offered to the passengers, "Dream World Cruise Destinations Magazine" has taken the comprehensive survey carried out among the top executives of the sector as the basis. Accordingly, Port Antalya has received the approval, support and appreciation of the most important decision makers and representatives of the sector for its progress in development.
