Getting the operation rights in 2006, and then complete takeover on 29 July 2010, of Antalya Port, one of the main gates of Turkish maritime trade, by Global Ports Holding were the milestones on the path that was finally crowned with Port Mediterranean Recognition Prize. This prize is a confirmation of the fact that Global Ports Holding attained its targets well before the expectations. Global Liman increased the overall quality and productivity in Antalya Port by shortening the operation times through buying new container handling equipments, cranes and tugboats since 2006, and increased the Port's general and bulk cargo volume and the container volume on a constant basis. Raising its stake in Antalya Port to 100 percent following its purchase of the shares of Ortadoğu Antalya Liman İşletmeleri AŞ in recent months, Global Liman showed a record performance within a short time. Global Ports Holding increased the container cargo volume of Antalya Port to 100,840 TEU* by an increase of 122 percent in the first 10 months of 2010 compared with the same period of the previous year, and was found worthy of the recognition award in the category of port management under Logitrans 2010 Logistics Awards with this success. In a statement on the occasion of this global success of Global Liman, Global Liman General Manager Saygın Narin said Antalya Port would continue to grow with the investments of Global Ports Holding. "Global Liman which wants to make Antalya Port - the strategic port of Mediterranean Basin - one of Turkey's major trade gates after transforming it into the safest, most productive, most efficiently managed and operated port in the entire Europe, will continue to grow with new successes both in Turkey and in the global scale.
