Marketing Director of Global Ports Holding, Figen Ayan is honored as member of the Executive Board of Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union in the meeting hold in France.
Figen Ayan, Marketing Director at Global Ports Holding that is the leader port operator of Turkey, was elected as Member of Executive Board of Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union in Medcruise Executive Board Election hold in 13th October, in Montpellier, France. Figen Ayan who participated as sole candidate to Executive Board election of Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union having 70 members and representing 100 ports in Mediterranean achieved great success by being elected among 25 candidates. Last week, in Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards that is one of the most prestigious awards of Cruise sector and organized every year, Global Ports Holding got succeed being finalist in “Port of the Year” category in World Segment with Mediterranean – Antalya Cruise Port affiliated to Global Ports Holding.
Medcruise, the Most Important Union of the Sector
Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union which met in Montpellier, France to elect 12 members of executive board and 1 chairman of the executive board in 13th October, gathers the joint effort of 70 ports sharing a wide geography from Spain, Portugal and Atlantic Coast of Morocco to Syria and Israel in the east; and in north from Adriatic and Black-sea to Red-sea in the south for development of Cruise tourism and industry in Mediterranean.
In elections to which Figen Ayan Marketing Director of Global Ports Holding participated as sole candidate from Turkey, she was elected as member of executive board among 25 strong candidates such as candidates participating from Venice, ports of South France, by leaving behind Barcelona, the largest ports operator in Mediterranean by receiving half of the votes. Figen Ayan stated that a clear majority of Mediterranean ports see the Global Ports Holding as a model and follow in its steps and she underlined that this matter had a great effect on her election as member of executive board of Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union. In election where Barcelona entered in administration, a total of 12 members of executive board, 6 of which are minor port representatives and 6 of which are major port representatives, are elected.
Figen Ayan who participated to election as sole candidate from Turkey had the distinct honor of representing this area by being elected as member of executive board in East Mediterranean Major Ports Category and receiving half of the votes in this category in which Heraklion Port of Crete Island took part as candidate. In Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union where members of executive board are elected in elections hold triennially, Figen Ayan will represent the Global Ports Holding during the next 3 years.
Medcruise Mediterranean Cruise Ports Union participates in all important cruise fairs for publicity of Mediterranean Ports and participates in international cruise conference and seminars as speaker and takes the guiding and regulatory role in parallel with problem and requirements of the sector with its works in committees of various maritime organizations and agencies. The Union organizes panels where cruise companies and port managers meet and discuss face to face. It organizes professional training courses for manager of member ports and organizes social events giving possibility to bonding of port personnel.
