Malaga Cruise Port will be an Embarkation Port for MSC Cruises during Summer 2022

Málaga, December 6th, 2021 – MSC Cruises, Europe's leading cruise line, is strengthening its presence in the city of Málaga, which will be a port of embarkation in 2022’s summer season for a new 11-day, 10-night Western Mediterranean itinerary from June to October. The journey will take place aboard MSC Orchestra, which has a capacity of 3,223 passengers and approximately 1,300 crew members.

Málaga will be MSC Orchestra's port of embarkation a total of 12 times, which will contribute to local trade and business. This will have a significant economic impact on the local economy during the ship's season.

With this announcement, MSC Cruises, the third largest cruise company in the world, and market leader in Europe, South America, and South Africa, reinforces its confidence in Malaga, as the 12 calls of MSC Orchestra are added to the 27 calls already announced for 2022.

Moreover, in its ongoing commitment to national ports, MSC Cruises has announced that MSC Orchestra will also have Alicante as a port of embarkation for this itinerary, which will allow more Spaniards to enjoy a safe and quality holiday in the Mediterranean in a comfortable and accessible way.

On this itinerary, MSC Orchestra will offer the opportunity to embark on a cruise in which Spain and the Iberian Peninsula will be one of the main attractions, as it will include visits to Olbia, Genoa, Marseille, Cadiz, Lisbon, Menorca, and Alicante, as well as Malaga and full days at sea.

Fernando Pacheco, Managing Director of MSC Cruises in Spain, has said: "We are very pleased to announce this new itinerary, which demonstrates the company's strong commitment to Spanish ports and destinations, and will offer great opportunities to bring southern Spanish destinations to cruisers from all over the world. I am delighted to be working with our local suppliers even more intensively than before. Both travel agents and clients have been asking us for some time to make Malaga a summer embarkation port and, after working together with the Port of Malaga and Suncruise Andalucía, we have managed to make this happen and further strengthen our commitment to the city”.

For his part, the president of the Port Authority of Malaga, Carlos Rubio, stressed that "the traditional relationship of MSC Cruises with the Port of Malaga is very positive, and we are confident that we will continue to maintain it in the upcoming years so that it can translate into an increase in calls in our port, as well as greater satisfaction for the company's customers".

From Suncruise Andalucía, its president José García Fuentes, "we value this news very positively and we thank MSC Cruceros for its commitment to Andalusia and the inclusion of its ports in new itinerary proposals. We believe that this should be the beginning of a commitment by MSC Cruises in particular, and the cruise industry in general, to Andalusia as a cruise destination, taking into account its diversity of ports, cultural heritage and landscape diversity and everything that the destination offers to cruise passengers".

MSC Orchestra, part of MSC Cruises' Musica family, is one of the company's ships with the highest percentage of outside cabins, that combines spacious and elegant interiors with a wide variety of bars and restaurants to enjoy life on board, as well as the Body and Mind Spa, the Palm Beach casino and the Jungle Adventure games room.

MSC Cruises offers its passengers the opportunity to travel with all the safety measures guaranteed by MSC Cruises' health and safety protocol, the first in the industry. This protocol is recognized by its flexibility, which allows for it to be adapted to the evolution of the pandemic on shore. Thanks to this protocol, MSC Cruises can ensure that its cruises are a safe, sustainable, and scalable experience for all, constantly working to ensure the safety of crews, port workers, passengers, and citizens from a health point of view.
