Two Cruise Ship visit Bar in 1 Day

TWO CRUISERS VISITED BAR IN ONE DAY July 27, 2018 Today, for the first time in Bar port’s history, two cruisers sailed in on the same day in Port of Adria JSC. Ship“Horizon” of Spanish company Pullmantur brought 1.690 Spanish tourists while the ship “Marella Celebration” of British company Marella Cruises brought 1.244 British passengers. On that occasion, Tourist Organization of Bar, together with the company Port of Adria JSC, organized a festive welcome for passengers and crew of these two cruisers.

“This is a special day for Bar, especially for us who are engaged in promotion of tourism capacities of the town. Only a few years ago, Bar was randomly considered as a tourist destination. Today, in Bar we have two cruisers with tourists from Spain and Great Britain. I am grateful to our partners Port of Adria and Global Ports, as well as to the agency Allegra for all their efforts that led to such success. Today we can see that Bar absolutely has capacities to accept even two cruise ships at the same time. Considering that trends in cruising industry incite building bigger and bigger ships, it is clear that Bar has capacities for their acceptance. It is our great advantage. Mediterranean is characterized by intense competition in the cruising industry. That is why our goal is to provide to the visitors a unique experience when visiting our town. By continuous monitoring of visitors’ satisfaction, we will try, together with all relevant stakeholders, to upgrade our tourist offer. Apart from attractive destinations and natural beauties, it also includes gastronomic offer, cultural and entertainment events, organization of fairs, etc. Only through constant and joint work, directly in coooperation with the economy, we can achieve desired results- longer tourist season and attraction of high-end tourists. Tourist organization of Bar will support development of cruising tourism and continue to work on develoment plans in order to activate local population and enrich local offer, said Emil Kukalj, director of Tourist Organization of Bar.

“I am proud to say that we have met all international standards’ requirements in terms of security and safety as well as of operational planning. Thus, our Company confirms that it fully monitors the requirements of cruising industry and adequately responds to them in order to valorize Bar’s potential in this field. Accordingly, I can already say that 2018 will be the year of great achievements for the company Port of Adria JSC. Aside from obtained ISPS certificate, Port of Adria has introduced integrated management systems thus confirming that the Company cares about occupational health and safety, as well as that it shall continuously maintain and improve quality of its services in line with standards which are the foundation of our success. Considering that the cruising industry is the only segment of tourism which registers constant growth, in the following period, we shall continue to strengthen our cooperation with local authorities and Tourist Organization of Bar, as well as interested businessmen.

From the very beginning, Global Ports Holding (GPH) has provided professional and quality presentation of Bar as a new cruising destination in the Adriatic at all European and cruising fairs. GPH has recently added the Port of Havana to its portfolio, along with renown Barcelona, Venice, Lisbon, Valetta, Dubrovnik, Singapore, Malaga, Kusadasi, etc…With 16 current ports, Global Ports Holding as the leading operator of cruising ports in the world, continues with its expansion strategy to America and Asia. "I am happy that Port of Adria is the part of such a big family", said Tanja Novović, coordinator of cruising activities in Bar.

Folk dance group “Rumija” gave a special contribution to this important event, attracting the attention of tourists by series of dances. Spanish and British tourists enjoyed in dances and songs specific for this region as well as in tasting of traditional specialties. In order to provide adequate information to the tourists, Tourist Organization of Bar set tourist information point on king Nikola’s promenade. Coordinated by NGO ‘’Tourism and Creative Industry Cluster of Bar”, local exhibitors presented their handicrafts to the visitors, thus contributing to the authentic impressions visitors took with them.
