This role is best suited for individuals who understand that maritime security requires adaptability, accountability, and continuous awareness within a dynamic port ecosystem.
The Role:
The (Maritime) Security Officer is a frontline professional responsible for supporting the safety, security, and smooth operation of the port. Officers are expected to:
- Maintain continuous situational awareness across an active port facility
- Apply security protocols aligned with international maritime and port facility standards
- Engage professionally with passengers, crew, cruise line partners, and stakeholders
- Respond calmly and effectively to security incidents, medical situations, and operational needs
- Support port operations during vessel arrivals, departures, and peak movement periods
- Operate across rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Uphold Nassau Cruise Port’s standards, values, and commitment to safety and service excellence

Required Qualifications:
- Experience in security, law enforcement, military, maritime, or similarly structured environments
- Ability to remain composed and effective in fast-paced situations
- Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physical readiness suitable for a large operational facility
- Willingness to work a rotational shift schedule
Preferred:
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- STCW Certification or maritime-related experience
- Emergency response or crowd management experience
- Exposure to environments governed by international safety or compliance standards

Physical and Work Requirements
- Must be a Bahamian citizen.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move items (minimum 20 lbs).
- Willingness to work both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
