    Tourism Sustainability Award to Global Ports Holding

    Award conferred to Stephen Xuereb, Global Ports Holding’s COO and Global Ports Holding

    Global Ports Holding Plc ("GPH"), the world's largest cruise port operator is pleased to announce that Stephen Xuereb, COO of Global Ports Holding was conferred an award for Tourism Sustainability by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation in his name and on behalf of Global Ports Holding. 

    This award was presented by the President of Malta H.E. Dr George Vella during a gala awards ceremony held as part of the 7th Mediterranean Tourism Forum Malta Summit organized by the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority. The evening brought together various dignitaries as well as leaders from the tourism, travel and hospitality sectors from all over the globe.  

    Stephen Xuereb commented, “It is both a privilege and an honour to be receiving this award for the sustainable tourism initiatives across the Mediterranean region and beyond. I dedicate this award to all the team at Global Ports Holding across our 26 ports in 14 countries. This award is you all!” 

    The ongoing Malta Summit brings together over 1,000 tourism, travel and hospitality leaders from 31 countries with the arching theme being the Mediterranean Brain: Business Research and Innovation Network. The Forum includes various think tanks, specialised training classes, masterclasses and discussion arenas. Mr. Xuereb is a panelist on the leaders’ forum discussing how tourism destinations are reinventing themselves. This forum will address Ministers, Tourism Boards Executives, Policy-Makers and Mayors to assess how best to shift tourism policy to a growth scenario which is increasingly based on a healthier mix of quality and quantity over the next decade, with an implementation of a sustainable policy in the long term.
