    The Port of Antalya Honoured as the Port of the Year

    Port Akdeniz - The Port of Antalya, which is managed by Global Ports Holding, continues to honour Turkey in the world tourism arena. Port Akdeniz – The Port of Antalya achieved great success by getting to the finals in the World Segment for the "Port of Year" category at Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards, which is one of the most prestigious annual awards of cruise sector.
    Turkey's leading port operator Global Ports Holding achieved a record breaking success in only one year by getting to the finals in the "Port of the Year" category at Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards, which is one of the most prestigious awards of cruise sector.
    The Most Prestigious Award of the Cruise Sector
    Carrying out international activities in the cruise and maritime sectors since 1970, Seatrade is one of the leading actors of the cruise market thanks to the trade fairs and events it organizes, as well as its training efforts, publications, and its websites that offer informative and instant news about the sector. Thus, "Seatrade Insider Awards" is considered as the most prestigious award of the sector. The strongest ability of the British organization is to establish high-level communication, and bring the cruise industry to even higher levels with the synergy it creates by gathering the key individuals and organizations of the world cruise sector. Seatrade Insider Awards is comprised of annual awards that are given to different actors of the sector such as ports, destinations, suppliers, which contribute to cruise sector from various points of the world. The awards were covering 6 categories in 2011 and a selection of only 18 companies from all around the world succeeded in becoming finalist. In the Port of Year category, Port Akdeniz - The Port of Antalya, which was the only Turkish port in the competition, achieved to take the lead together with Norway's Port Bergen and Jamaica's Port Falmouth, and represented Turkey successfully in the world's cruise community.
    Increasing Attractiveness of Turkish Ports
    Thanks to the recent investments and active marketing efforts, The Port of Antalya, which is one of the most important ports of the Mediterranean, positioned itself as a turn-around port in 2011 with 3 ships and 31 calls from the leading German cruise company AIDA. The port succeeded in almost ten folding its business volume in only four years from 15,488 passengers to 80 cruises and 143,551 passengers in 2011, Port Akdeniz – The Port of Antalya's unique success was also recognized with the "Most Improved Terminal Facility" award in March 2011 by Dream World Cruise Destinations Magazine, which distributes awards in 15 different categories to the best ports and destinations of the world among hundreds of nominations. Again, in July 2011, The Port of Antalya honoured Turkey by being selected at the World Travel Awards in 4 different classifications ranging from "Europe's Leading Cruise Port", "World's Leading Cruise Destination", to "Europe's Leading Cruise Destination", or "Europe's Leading Destination" categories.
    Global Ports Sweeps the Awards
    Making great contribution to Turkish tourism industry by streamlining Antalya, Bodrum, and Kuşadası ports, Global Ports Holding continues to act as a model in the industry with all the awards collected. At the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention 2011 Trade Fair held in Miami, FL, USA, The Port of Antalya received the "Most Improved Terminal Facility" award. On the other hand, Ege Ports, was selected as The Cruise Port of the Year at Lloyd's List Turkey Maritime Awards, and as the Most Secured Port of the World by Cruise Lines International Association. Bodrum Cruise Port, followed the success of its sister companies, by being chosen as the Destination of the Year at Seatrade Insider Awards in 2008. All these awards and nominations received over the years were evidences of a ground-breaking progress made by Turkish tourism by Global Ports Holding.
