Global Ports Holding announces the next Global Run in Ravenna, Italy

Global Ports Holding (“GPH”) is pleased to announce its next Global Run event, Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte, which will take place on 12 November 2017 in Ravenna, Italy, the latest addition to GPH’s international cruise port operations.

Global Ports Holding will be the named sponsor of the event, which will gather participants from around the world to run in support of cultural tolerance and to enjoy the beauty of Ravenna. “Global Ports Maratona di Ravenna Città D’Arte” will have two tracks featuring a full and half marathon.

This year's event marks the first time that GPH will sponsor an existing race. In this occasion, Ravenna Marathon will become a Global Run thanks to the support of Global Ports Holding. The event is a great opportunity for GPH to help to promote the city while engaging with the local community, in line with the company’s ethos. The previous event “Global Run Bodrum 2016” was recently recognised as the “Best Sports Event” at the ACE of M.I.C.E. Awards ceremony, one of the most prestigious tourism awards in Turkey.

Global Run is organized by Global Ports Holding every year with the hope of bringing the world one step closer to peace and understanding. People from many different countries and cultures join the event, with a record 3,600 participants from 45 different nationalities attending last year. So far, the Global Run has been held in Bodrum, Turkey; Valletta, Malta; and Bar/Kotor, Montenegro. The intention is to take Global Run to all the locations of GPH’s growing portfolio of 14 ports located around the world.

GPH has witnessed how critical travel is to bringing different cultures together. Cruise travel represents one of the most efficient and effective ways to visit numerous countries and interact with people from all over the world in a short period of time.

Global Ports Holding CEO, Emre Sayin said:
“We are proud to announce our next Global Run in Ravenna, a location that was added to Global Ports Holding’s growing portfolio of cruise ports last year. The event importantly demonstrates our continued commitment, as the world’s largest cruise port operator, to promoting integration and tolerance among different cultures.”

Ravenna Marathon City of Art PRESIDENT, Stefano Righini said:
It is a great honor for us to have signed a titration agreement with Global Ports Holding, an international company present all over the world. Being selected by Global Ports Holding to join our names is a very important goal achieved for us; It means that the work done so far has reached such a professionality that even a company of this importance has chosen Ravenna and its marathon to communicate to the world the values that transmit an event like the marathon itself. So after 18 years the name of the Ravenna Marathon will change in the Global Ports Maratona di Ravenna Città d’Arte, leaving unchanged the value of the art city that distinguishes us. The interest of a foreign and international company extends the horizons of our Marathon. We trust that this new partnership will consolidate in the future. Meanwhile we work together to further increase the event. Thanks to the wide spread of communication of Global Ports Holding, we will be able to reach markets and countries in the world where the company has its 14 major ports.
All those who transit through these ports, including Ravenna Terminal Cruises, will have the opportunity to be informed about this new partnership. Also important is the message that Global Ports Holding wants to convey through its participation based on tolerance among peoples, a message of relaxation and positiveness in such a complicated moment.”
